|onions, sliced finely|
|3 tsp||ginger-garlic paste|
|3 tsp||chilly powder|
|3 tsp||coriander powder|
|½ tsp||turmeric powder|
|3 large||tomatoes, chopped|
|1||marble sized ball tamarind|
Step 01Clean chicken, cut into 12-14 pieces and wash thoroughly. Extract 1 ½ cups of thick milk from grated coconut and 1 ½ cups of thin milk.
Step 02Heat oil in a heavy vessel and season with cinnamon and fennel seeds. Add the curry leaves, sauté and add onions.
Step 03When they turn golden brown, add ginger-garlic paste, chilly, coriander powder, and turmeric. Sauté for 2 minutes, add chopped tomatoes, and stir fry till tomatoes are well blended.
Step 04Add chicken pieces and salt and sauté till oil rises on the top.
Step 05Pour the thin milk over the chicken, and cook covered on low heat.
Step 06When the chicken is tender, add the thick coconut milk, and the thick juice extracted from the tamarind.
Step 07Simmer for 5 minutes, and remove from heat.
Step 08Serve hot with steamed rice, tomato rice or chapattis.
