|3 tbsp||refined oil|
|1½ tsp||cumin seed (jeera)|
|½ cup||pigeon peas (tur dal), soaked|
|300 gm||spinach leaves|
|1 tsp||dried fenugreek leaves (kasoori methi)|
|½ tsp||turmeric powder|
Step 01Wash, soak and then boil the dal till it is cooked.
Step 02Drain and grind to make a smooth paste. Clean and cut the chicken into 8 pieces. Finely chop the onions, green chillies and garlic. Wash and shred the spinach leaves.
Step 03Heat oil and add jeera. When it starts crackling, add garlic, chopped onions and green chillies.
Step 04Sauté till the onions are lightly browned. Add chicken pieces, shredded spinach, salt and turmeric powder.
Step 05Add 3 cups of water and cook till chicken is done. Stir in the cooked dal paste. Check seasoning. Finish cooking with kasoori methi.
Step 6Serve hot with chapatis / parathas.
